Fantastic Progress for the Under 13 Girls Football Team.
The Under 13 girls travelled to EIC for a football match this week.
The team included the following players shown below in their positions:
Goal:Georgina Hill
Captain: Mollie Barlow
Georgia Irvin, Bianca Trigo, Andrea Vichera, Mounia Fallah, Nicole Wattam, Ellie Parker
Scores: EIC’A’ 3 – BIC 1 … EIC’B’ 0 – BIC 2 … EIC (mix A&B) 0 – BIC 2
Although we started very apprehensively, all of the players worked hard from the start. Unfortunately within 5 minutes we were 2 goals down. In spite of this set back, the girls started to settle into a rhythm and the quality of play began to improve. This first game was the critical one as we were playing the EIC ‘A’ team which was the main scoring event in the league. Playing with much more confidence we managed to draw the second half with one goal being scored for each side. Our scorer was the captain Molly Munoz Barlow who went on to score 3 more goals against EIC ‘B’ and their mixed ‘A’ and ‘B’ teams. Playing with greater confidence, our Under 13 girls won the second and third games by 2 goals to nil. Every single player played well during the afternoon. Georgina in goal making strong clearances up the length of the pitch while Georgia and Bianca held firm in defence as full backs. Our star in defence was Andrea who made some very strong tackles and volleyed clearances from centre half position. In midfield, Nicole, Mounia and Ellie had some excellent spells of entertaining football. Ellie managed a few attacks and came close with shots. She eventually scored a goal in the 3rd game. Up front and helping out in the midfield, Molly had a great game. She led the team by example and they all grew in strength and character as the afternoon progressed. It was a pleasure to manage the team.
I. Patterson: Vice Principal and stand in for Giofranco Zola.
